Iyengar Yoga

Iyengar yoga is a progressive approach to the practice of yoga. By paying close attention to anatomical details and the alignment of each posture, BKS Iyengar, the forefather of this world renown system, has developed the precision into this ancient practice. This type of practice develops and cultivates strength, endurance, stability, awareness, and flexibility while emphasizing correct body alignment in each asana (posture).

The specific use of props such as blankets, bricks, and belts help individualize and modify  the asana according to the student’s need, and therefore has a therapeutic effect for the partitioner. In the way,the students are able to safely, and intelligently build and develop their practice of yoga. Iyengar’s unique approach to teaching asana from its foundational level and using props to individualize the asanas to meet each student’s need, allows for students of all ages and physical abilities to benefit from the practice of yoga.

Chair Yoga

Chair yoga is good for anyone who has difficulty standing, getting on the ground, or transitioning between these two positions. Chair yoga can replicate almost all traditional yoga poses and stretches. Also, for these same reasons, chair yoga is a good option for someone who does not have access to adequate floor space. This includes many people in offices or who travel a great deal. In general, the chair replaces the yoga mat, becoming an extension of your body. This means slightly altered techniques to accommodate the lack of floor space. It also makes use of the chair's physical features and components to perform

seated yoga poses.

Adaptive Yoga

Adaptive Yoga, or wheelchair yoga, allows better balance moving from one position to another and improves proprioception. This improves your nervous system's ability to sense location and movement through receptors in almost every joint, muscle, and tendon in your body. Wheelchair yoga improves these processes, helps with mobility and balance, and decreases the likelihood of falls or other accidents.

Wheelchair yoga can also help improve muscle and bone strength. Just as certain yoga exercises are geared toward flexibility, others focus on building muscle. Increased muscle mass means elevated calorie-burning capacity and improved control and balance. Wheelchair yoga also can improve bone strength. Exposes bones to increased levels of force, which can improve mineral density.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a gentle and nurturing style of yoga that focuses on relaxation and deep rest. It provides a space for individuals to slow down, release tension, and restore their bodies and minds. Unlike more active yoga practices, restorative yoga emphasizes passive stretching and the use of props to support the body in poses for extended periods of time. This allows the muscles to relax deeply and encourages a sense of calm and restoration.

Today, I realized that the body self-consciousness, and deep concepts of certain yoga postures that are rooted in me, come from you and your lessons. You are really gifted, born to be doing what you do. I am really grateful to you.
